Making Word Connections and Using Mnemonics to Enhance Retention and Retrieval
A mnemonic device is anything that serves as a memory aid. Mnemonic strategies are used with all age groups and every level of learner. The goal is to have students take more control of their learning. These strategies are often used in language arts; however, they can be used in any other subject area, such as science and social studies. Mnemonic devices are especially helpful for remembering vocabulary and can be very useful for SAT preparation.
